Final Fantasy VII News
10:33 PM - 31 May 09 - Reported by: jagjones
According to an ESRB rating, Final Fantasy VII is becoming a PSOne Classic in North America.
The original Playstation game was released in 1997 and is generally considered to be the most popular role-playing game ever. Sony Computer Entertainment America is once again publishing the game, this time for the PSP and Playstation 3. Final Fantasy VII is rated T for Comic Mischief, Mild Fantasy Violence and Mild Language.

No release date has been announced but it could be soon. With Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Complete coming out on June 2nd, a release of the PSOne Classic would make plenty of sense at the same time frame.

PS3 Slim Rumours Abound
2:32 AM - 17 May 09 - Reported by: jagjones
Huge rumours are popping up across the gaming industry regarding a possible PS3 slim to be announced at E3. Below is an alleged leaked photo of the new PS3 slim
Although Sony has categorically denied that a PlayStation 3 redesign, price drop, or reconfiguration would be in the future, rumors and "leaked details" keep popping up about PlayStation hardware revisions. This week's Sony hardware buzz comes in the form of new photos leaked to the internet by factory workers producing what looks to be a slimmed down variation of the console. The photos, which were first posted on a Japanese gaming blog, GameColumn, show components of a PlayStation 3 console with a much smaller overall clearance. Although the depth of the casing looks about the same, the comparatively shorter height of the device suggests a slim variation, similar to what we saw with PlayStation 2 Slim and the PSP Slim.

Duke Nukem Forever Never
3:52 PM - 9 May 09 - Reported by: jagjones
Duke Nukem, the once-iconic blond-haired all-American action hero, with a fondness for catchphrases like "It's time to kick *** and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of gum," is no more finally. The star of a hit string of games in the 1990s with his creators, 3D Realms who used him to help pioneer the first-person shooter genre, paving the way for modern hits like Halo and Call of Duty have called it a day because they have gone broke last week.

Ten years ago, Duke Nukem Forever was expected to become just as big a hit as Master Chief and the like...but constant delays -- the game's release date was originally intended to be in 1998 -- caused it to become something of a running joke, topping Wired magazine's annual Vaporware Awards list for seven years out of eight.
Almost unbelievably, the 3D Realms team apparently continued constant work on the game, releasing occasional teaser-style screenshots and trailers, until the company abruptly ran out of money and folded with what we imagine to be the loss of numerous jobs.

New Sony PSP Go
9:51 AM - 2 May 09 - Reported by: jagjones
Many rumors have circulated around Sony's next iteration of its handheld gaming device, the PSP. First, it was to lose its UMD drive; then get a cosmetic overhaul; then a Christmas release date forecast. Today, we find cohesion among the gabbing masses.
1Up cited "inside sources" at Sony have played with the newest PSP, supposedly named the PSP Go! This moniker was derived from Sony's recent usage of Go! on its European PSP peripherals, like Go!View and Go!Cam.

Following the thread of previous rumors, the PSP Go! will likely ditch the UMD drive in favor of digital downloads that plant directly on the new internal flash memory unit. PSP Go! may be available in two storage models: 8GB and 16GB. This rumor makes perfect sense due to Sony's digital download-only release of Patapon 2. Concurrent with the device's launch, Sony may to release 100 downloadable games in its store, ranging from the PSP's old disc catalog to new titles.
Those left holding UMD discs are out of luck. One rumor has it that Sony will supply in-store kiosks to allow gamers to dump UMD data onto their PSP Go!, avoiding the pain of repurchasing a game. Still, abandoning the UMD is likely to anger earlier adopters of the PSP, and may even cause Sony to lose new customers.
Also out of luck are those waiting for dual analog nubs -- according to rumors, the PSP Go! will feature slide-out controls beneath the screen, but will maintain the control scheme of the current PSP model. If true, this is a major missed opportunity for Sony. Enough people have pleaded for dual analog sticks since the initial release of the PSP; it's about time Sony delivered.
Capitalizing on the recent boon of iPhone touch screen games, the PSP Go! might have a touch screen of its own. This, too, would make perfect sense as a reactionary effort to mimic the iPhone/iPod Touch and Nintendo's DSi -- Sony's main competition in the gaming arena. A sleek and large touch screen could be just what Sony needs to get the PSP off the ground.
Though it was unmentioned, I'd also bet the PSP Go! has a built-in digital camera. The DSi has it; the iPhone has it; almost every device on the market has it; it's time for Sony to jump on the bandwagon. There's a lot of logic behind modeling the Go! after Sony's failed Mylo in terms of hardware and connectivity.
These are all rumors and speculation at this point, and Sony refuses to comment. But given how the current causal gamer is obsessed with digital downloads, touch screens, and sleek, lightweight designs, I'd be willing to place a wager on the authenticity of these guesses. The rumor mill says the PSP Go! will be unveiled at the E3 summit in June, and will hit Japanese markets in September and come to the United States in the Fall.

"Wooo! Having an official release date is awesome!” said Tim Schafer, President of Double Fine Productions. “And how cool is it that EA threw down the dough to have the name of an entire month changed to Rocktober?"
Brütal Legend tells the tale of Eddie Riggs, played by Jack Black. The ultimate roadie, Eddie is the first person anyone calls when they need guitars tuned or stages rigged, and has a love for hot rods and a photographic memory for every Heavy Metal album cover, and the lyrics those albums contained. One night, a stage accident knocks Eddie unconscious, and he awakens in a world that looks very strange yet oddly familiar, a world where every Heavy Metal album cover and lyric Eddie knows has come to life, and where the evil emperor Doviculus and his demon army, The Tainted Coil, have enslaved the last remaining humans. When an oppressed people request Eddie’s knowledge of modern warfare, he pulls from his own experience in the only occupation he’s ever had, a roadie for a Heavy Metal band, and under his command, this barbaric force of hot-rods, Marshall stacks, leather, and chrome will bring this ancient world into the age of Metal.

Fallout 3 DLC Changes Game End (Spoilers)
5:13 PM - 22 Apr 09 - Reported by: jagjones
If you wished that Fallout 3 could have ended differently (or, indeed, not ended at all), then you'll be mighty interested in the newly announced Broken Steel DLC. Scheduled for Xbox Live on May 5 at a cost of 800 points, the fresh content will offer new options for the game's final mission (Take it Back!), effectively changing how Fallout 3 ends. And, once the main quest and the Broken Steel story are completed, you'll be able to continue with side quests and exploring the Wasteland.
Previously in the game players had to sacrifice either themselves or Brotherhood of Steel member Sarah Lyons at the end of 'Take it Back!'. Broken Steel, however, lets you send in one of your followers, either Fawkes, Sergeant RL-3 or Charon to turn on the water purifier. And your butt is thus saved from a lethal dose of radiation.
The story then picks up two weeks after 'Take it Back!'. You'll get side quests from Aqua Pura - who have taken on the task of distributing water to the Wasteland - but the new main quest focuses on locating and destroying an Enclave stronghold. Before you can launch an assault on the Enclave, you'll have to construct a new super powerful weapon called the Tesla Cannon. It can shoot down Enclave helicopters with one shot.
Besides the extra gameplay, Broken Steel will also introduce the following new bits and pieces:
- Level cap is raised from 20 to 30.
- New Achievements.
- New perks. One of which will be called 'Puppies' and will give you a brand new doggy if Dogmeat ever dies.
- New higher level enemies: Super Mutant Overlord, Feral Ghoul Reaver and Enclave Hellfire Trooper.
- New locations: Presidential Metro Tunnels and Adams Air Force Base.

Killzone 2 Free DLC
9:04 AM - 13 Apr 09 - Reported by: jagjones
Okay this sounds a bit odd and this smells a bit iffy but we’re gonna report it just in case it's true and we can say hey look at us we were one of the first. According to a Dutch gaming website, the first map pack for Killzone 2 which was recently revealed, known as Steel & Titanium, will go on sale for free on April 30th.

The pack will contain two multiplayer maps, one we thought would be set on the ISA flagship The New Sun (but isn’t, it’s actually called Vekta Cruiser) and the other called Wasteland Bullet, which is based on two Helghan trains.
Now, truth be told, we dont doubt the date as Guerrilla Games did say it would be out by the end of April, its the “free” part which does not sit right...but if it is true you read it hear first!
